KEY WEST is the premier fly fishing and light tackle destination for those looking to experience the "pinnacle" of saltwater angling. Key West and the Florida Keys are home to many of the worlds most talented guides, and are a wonderful spot to vacation with family and friends. This rich ecosystem is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico and includes the 3rd largest barrier reef in the world. Key West has a long history of sports fishing and has the IGFA world records to prove it. Everything from shallow water sight fishing with a fly rod to offshore trolling in the Gulfstream are only a few miles from the dock. Inshore "flats" species include Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish, Sharks, and Barracuda. Offshore species include Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna, Mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish, Grouper, Cobia, Snapper, and Sharks.
Flats Fishing- World Angling is committed to providing the finest fly fishing and light tackle spin fishing experience possible. We are all independent and enthusiastic guides who live for saltwater fishing. We welcome both veteran and novice anglers alike. Operating out of Key West and a number of small marinas north along US 1, we are able to capitalize on ever changing conditions and fish movements. Most times we will trailer our boats to where the fishing is best. All tackle, bait and flies are provided if necessary, however, many anglers prefer to fish with their own gear, so we leave it up to you. During the height of season from March 1 to August 1 we encourage all clients to book a full day so we can take maximum advantage of tides and opportunities.
Light Tackle Fishing- Fishing from a 20'-40' bay or center console boat for a wide variety of game fish, is considered by many to be the most productive and fast paced style of saltwater fishing. This type of fishing is action packed, great for groups up to 4 persons and primarily done with conventional and spin gear. Fly fishing is certainly a possibility, but it's best to communicate your interest with your guide beforehand so they can plan accordingly. Light tackle fishing is great year round in the Keys; especially during the winter months when the flats are slow.
Offshore Fishing- Key West's most famous angler, Earnest Hemingway popularized this type of fishing in his writings and fished for many years out of Key West. Marlin are surely the most prized of all game fish, but other species such as Sailfish, Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, and Kingfish are also targeted in deep water. This style of fishing is great for groups up to 6 as most boats are larger sportsfish vessels. Fly Fishing is an option but it is important to book the right Captain for this.

Everglades- Everglades National Park is a massive, estuarine system located on the South West coast of Florida's mainland. This National Park is dedicated to preserving an untouched balance of natural wildlife. At a crossroads between temperate and sub-tropical America as well as fresh and salt waters, the park encompasses a lush, fertile, low-green landscape and infinitely complex mangrove river system. The Everglades is teeming with wildlife such as Alligators, Manatees, Dolphins, and a variety of bird life. It provides a stable fishery year round for many species including: Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon, Pompano, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, Goliath Grouper, Snapper and Largemouth Bass.
Unique in the world, the Everglades is an ecological wonder and a must fish for any saltwater enthusiast. Anglers access the park from either Flamingo or Chokoloskee and lodge in either Naples or Homestead.

Louisiana- Fishing the low-lying marsh of southern Louisiana's delta is simply one of the coolest things in saltwater fishing. I tell people, " if you want to experience what fishing would have been like 200 years ago, this is it." It's ridiculous! It's Redfishing to end all Redfishing; it's not just good, it's a bite away from too much...stuffed, intoxicated! Just when you think you couldn't possibly hook and land another Redfish, along swims another that's bigger than the last one. You can't help yourself, and that's what this part of the world is all about...Excess! World Angling has deep roots on the bayou and down on Bourbon St. Although Redfishing is the main fly fishing attraction here, note that the slogan on the state license plate reads "sportsman's paradise." Redfish, Black Drum, Sheepshead, and Trout make up the inshore fishery while Tuna, Kingfish, Amberjack, Red Snapper and even Marlin are caught in the deep water south of Venice. The "Midnight Lump" is world famous for its awesome tuna fishing and is only 14 miles from Venice Marina. Most anglers choose to stay right in downtown New Orleans but other accomodations are available depending on where you will be fishing.

Grand Bahama- If you like saltwater flats sight fishing in ankle deep crystal clear water than a trip to the East End of Grand Bahama is for you. Bonefish are the primary species here, but shots at permit, tarpon, and mutton snapper are not that uncommon. The "remoteness" of the area is realized usually only a couple hours after leaving the states. Grand Bahama is a far away place that is so close to home and very easy to get to.
The fishing is very weather dependant, although Grand Bahama has some higher than usual land that will protect some shorelines from the wind. Get a good weather day and a 20+ fish day is a possibility. Keep in mind the fish here average 5 pounds. The best fishing of the year usually happens between November and July, when the shallow waters cool, but good fishing can be had year round.
Freeport, a stopping off point for most travelers to Grand Bahama, is a great family destination with luxurious hotels, attractions, and a variety of dining options. If "roughing it" is more your style, rent a car and make the 1 hour drive east to the areas we fish and rent a room on secluded white sand beach that seems to go forever.

Guadeloupe- One word...PERMIT Think you are a hard core permit junkie? Haven't been to Guadeloupe? Haven't heard of Guadeloupe? Where have you been? Break out your English to French old school Franklin Translator that you won on The Price Is Right because its finally time to use it.
Guadeloupe is located in the French West Indies, you know that area southeast of Puerto Rico that all the hurricanes tend to pass through. It is a short trip from Miami, but unlike a lot of Carribean nations it has the feeling of being in Europe, only tropical breezes and blue water surrounds you. There are plenty of activities for the family, and some of the best surfing, kite boarding, and fly fishing imagineable.
Speaking of fly fishing, Guadeloupe has had and currently has the only fly fishing guide the nation has seen. This means that the flats aren't terribly pressured, although the fishing is not easy. Tarpon, snook, bonefish, and permit are all found on the flats, but you don't usually see them all on the same flats at the same time. Guadeloupe can be notoriously windy, and most of the flats are near reefs, making the tides strong. Bring your wading boots and your A game and have a whack at a Super Grand Slam.
